The last few days we have been doing a little bit of sight seeing and a lot of pool time as it has been so hot. We’ve been to San Gimignano, where S was particularly taken by the ‘rapunzel’ towers.
We also went for a lovely walk in the forest and a swim in the Merse River which is right by where we are staying.
Last night at Montestigliano they had a group dinner which was fun, there is us, a big group from the States who had been to a wedding in Rome and a big extended family group from Luxembourg who are really nice, including 3.5 year old triplets! Our sneaky plans to abandon our kids while we dined in peace were thwarted by S who woke up 5 minutes in, let herself out of the villa and came and joined in! She had a ball, and was still ruling the dance floor at 10.30pm. Good old J slept through the lot, even the 1000 decibel bad Italian karaoke.
We also went to Siena to visit the amazing duomo/cathedral and Il Campo, the square where the big horse race takes place twice a year.
