Montestigliano and Tuscany

Hello from Tuscany, this is the view I am looking at in the garden as I write this 🙂

Yesterday we packed up and headed north – the dreaded 7 hour drive to Tuscany, the longest of the trip. Again the kids were outstanding, the portable DVD player we brought with us has been a godsend 😉 We shared the driving, just insane when you are doing 130km an hour (the speed limit) and a Mercedes/BMW/Audi comes roaring past and literally makes your car shake!

We reached Montestigliano which is our home for the next week, in a villa at an ‘agriturismo’ about 12km outside of Siena. It is a working farm as well of 3000 acres with literally thousands of olive trees. It is the third time Mike and I have stayed here (1998, 2004 and now) and we just love it. It is apparently unseasonably hot here – 35 degrees today and the same all week, so we will be spending lots of time in the pool!
